Saving the UK's Peatlands before it's too late

This event, hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Group on the Environment, on Thursday 16th September 4-5pm GMT, will discuss the decline of UK peatlands and what impacts this has for nature and biodiversity loss.

The meeting will hear short contributions from:

Tony Juniper, campaigner, writer, sustainability adviser and Chair of Natural England

Pat Thompson, Senior Uplands Policy Officer at RSPB

Their remarks will touch on: the importance of peatlands for nature and biodiversity, the demise of peatlands in the UK and how the UK government can better manage and protect peatlands to enable them to fulfil their enormous emission-reducing potential for generations to come. Above all, the event will provide an opportunity for APPG members to be briefed on how and why UK peatlands can be saved before it is too late.
