On Monday 12th May, the Environment APPG will be holding a briefing session with the Climate Change Committee on their upcoming report to Parliament on progress in adapting and preparing for climate change. This event will be an opportunity to hear from the CCC following the publishing of their adaptation report, which is due on Wednesday 30th April.

Under the Climate Change Act, the government must prepare a Climate Change Risk Assessment every five years. This is then followed by a National Adaptation Programme (NAP), last published in July 2023, setting out actions by relevant government departments to address risks and opportunities identified in the risk assessment. The report therefore marks the first opportunity to evaluate the government's most recent NAP and will assess how well England is prepared for the impacts of climate change.

Join us to hear from the CCC's experts in a time where the UK is needed to step up into a climate leadership role amid a time of global backsliding on many climate and nature targets. During the briefing session, we’ll hear from the CCC directly as they share the report's key findings, before opening up to Q&A for both parliamentarians and associate members.

This event is open to parliamentarians and associate members of the Environment APPG.
